THE DONETSK OPERA THEATRE OPENS
THE 75TH ANNIVERSARY THEATRICAL SEASON

The golden colors of the autumn announced about the opening of a new theatrical season.
This year is the 75th anniversary for Donetsk state academic opera and ballet theatre A. Solovyanenko.

The right to step first to the stage belongs to the ballet company and the participants of the World Ballet Stars according to our tradition. Donetsk receives hospitably famous dancers, opens new ballet collectives, and welcomes good friends for the 13th time.

The inspirer and organizer of the Festival World Ballet Stars is People’s artist of Ukraine, the artistic director of the Donetsk opera and ballet theatre Vadim Pisarev will not exhaust new ideas, original projects. All the Terpsihore’s venerators who have luck to visit the Festival performances become astonished. But there are no reasons to be surprised because Vadim Pisarev is not only brilliant dancer but authoritative theatre worker as well. He is keeping an eye on unceasing and developing choreographic art. He always tries to show to his country fellows all the most original and attractive works.

The program of the XIII th International Festival World Ballet Stars is not an exception. Moreover, the Donetsk balletomanes will become witnesses of many revelations, pleasant unexpectedness and surprises from October, 1.

It is a fact of a common knowledge that Ukraine and Georgia have cordial interrelations, close creative bonds connecting cultural and art workers of our countries. Also, there is no need to present a marvelous ballerina, People’s artist of Russia, Nina Ananiashvili. But she will appear on the Donetsk stage in framework of the Festival as ballet company director of the Tbilisi academic opera and ballet theatre Z. Paliashvili. At the conductor's stand will appear the famous musician Zaza Kalmahelidze. There are original productions of the A. Vivaldi’s, L Bernstein’s, G. Donizetti’s, I. Stravinsky’s works in the program of our Georgian guests. The productions were created with the inspired fantasy of the prominent choreographers George Balanchin (USA), Burt Cook (USA), Stanton Welsh (Australia), Tray McIntaira (USA). And a concert item “Dreams of Japan” by L. Eto, N. Yamaguchi, A. Tosha of the Tbilisi theatre is an organic constituent of the Festival program, including the Day of Japan. The presentation of the country of rising sun is not accidental. During some years Vadim Pisarev is bound to this striking country with close creative ties. Vadim several times made ballet productions in Japan. Our ballet company presented the Ukrainian art with great success in this country. Some young Nippon soloists polish their skill in the Donetsk theatre.
This year the government of Japan awarded a grant for installation of the newest illuminating stage equipment taking into a consideration the mutual collaboration of both of our states. The Japan art will be presented not only with music and dance. In the break the visitors will be able to take part in the ikebana composition and after the performance there will be held the traditional tea ceremony in the theatre foyer.
Donetsk is a city living in the weekday of great buildings and intense rhythms. Apparently, it does influence on the esthetic predilection of our compatriots. Any way, the modern choreography evenings always cause big interest and public’s pilgrimage. The organizers of the XIII th International Festival World Ballet Stars will not disappoint the visitors’ expectations. This time the modern choreography will be presented by the Rheinanpfalz opera and ballet theatre (Germany) with the production Jack Brell de Grand and also the premiere of the ballet on music of the 2nd Piano Concert S. Rakhmaninov (ballet master K. Uralsky from the USA) in performance by the Donetsk company. This evening the visitors of Donetsk theatre will see a magnificent orchestra director, People’s artist of Russian Federation, Mikhail Bunk as a giving concert musician. We are sure that the 2nd Piano Concert of S. Rakhmaninov in his interpretation will get new colors and will afford a real pleasure to the audience.
Nevertheless the basis of the ballet art was and remains unsurpassed in its beauty and philosophic depth – Classic. The Saint-Petersburg school always was renowned for its exemplary performance. The representatives of this school, the leading soloists of Maryinsky theatre Sofia Gumerova and Ilya Kuznetsov will perform the principal parts in L. Minkus’ ballet “Bayadere” that will take place on October, 5.

The Festival will be concluded with the multicolored firework of world level stars. Among them are the favorites of Donetsk: Dmitriy and Daniel Simkin (Germany), Yana Salenko and her partner Marian Walter (Germany), Alan Boitani (Italy), Lisa Colon (New Zealand), Andrei Ivanov, Ilya Kuznetsov, Tatyana Predeina, Igor Kolb, Sofia Gumerova (Russia), Yaroslav Salenko (Ukraine, the National Opera), Daniela Severyan (Brasil), Elena Tumanova (Austria), Rebecca King (USA), Alisa Voronova (Donetsk).

The Gala-concert of World Ballet Stars will be a culmination of the XIII th International Festival World Ballet Stars and will begin a counting out time of the preparing of the new XVI th festival of the Terpsihore’s acolytes.

All our habitues and everyone who just begins to join opera art connoisseurs will be able to enjoy the premiere of Giuseppe Verdi’s opera Falstaff. The leading party will sing the baritone from Swiss Ivan Konsulov. The rest of the parts will be performed by the soloists of the Donetsk theatre. Stage manager – Alexander Lebedev (Saint-Petersburg) Choir master – Liudmila Streltsova, People’s artist of Ukraine Stage and costume designer – Razvan Draganescu (Romania) Our production of this opera had great success in cultural centers of Germany and Swiss this summer.

Devoting to the 150th anniversary of the great Ukrainian poet, publicist, dramatist and philosopher Ivan Franko our theatre prepared for the children a fairytale on the popular composer I.
